SERIAN: The re s ident s of Kampung Tian Sekawan here joyfully celebrated the Feast day of the Patron Saint of their church, St. Peter and the 52nd Anniversary of the introduction of good news of Catholic faith to the Kampung.
The Thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Rev Fr. Francis Dakun at 5:30 p.m. on 4th August was packed with congregations from far and near the Kampung.
The members of the Catholic Senior Citizens’ Fellowship (CSCF) and seminarians were among those attending the Mass. After the Thanksgiving Mass, the celebration continued at the nearby community hall. Rector Rev. Fr. Paul Herry later joined in the happiness with the participants.
The celebration in the hall with songs and dances were all well prepared by the members of the Church Management Committee, the Ladies Guild and the Sunday school teachers and students. The Kampung Tian Sekawan with a population of 350 is under the care of a headman, Satas anak Mayang. The village is completed with tar-sealed road from the Kuching/ Serian Road at 29th mile junction.
