KUCHING: Major remedial works will be carried out to rectify the dilapidated sections of the village road at Kg Sungai Tapang.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap said that the remedial works will involve removing and replacing existing pavement followed by laying geo textile, aggregates and premix.
“The contractors also agreed to carry out and complete the remedial works tentatively before the first day of Chinese New Year (Jan 22),” he said.
Yap assured that he will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that all the agreed remedial works and necessary periodic maintenance works on the village roads are carried out and completed properly, and on schedule.
“I hope that the public would not be confused by the dilapidated section of village road but have a big picture on the issue at hand.
“The usage of the village road by the contractors is only temporary for the construction and completion of an access road at the southern side of Kuching International Airport,” he said in a statement today.
The remedial works project is part of RM112.9 million project approved by the federal government for his constituency.
“The scope of works include construction of new four-lane two-way road from Stutong T-Junction to Stampin T-Junction (one kilometre); a two-way road from Stampin T-Junction to Bukit Berangan T-Junction (5.2KM); construction of new two-lane two-way road from Stampin T-Junction to Sungai Tapang T-Junction (1.7KM) and construction of Stampin T-Junction and road connecting Sungai Tapang T-Junction.
“The works also include the construction of three RC bridges with two-lane two-way roads, crossing Sungai Kuap, Sungai Stampin and Sungai Sangkoh and one underpass for crossing southern part of KIA,” he added.
The project is 53 days ahead of the schedule.
