MUKAH: Kampung Petanak Daya (Petanak Ulu) here will have its own futsal court soon when the ongoing construction project completes in about two months’ time.
New Sarawak Tribune discovered works on the project had begun over a month ago, and it is currently in the middle stage of construction.
An unidentified worker with a local contractor on Saturday said they were given until August to complete the project.
He said initially they were asked to undertake the foundation work only, but soon after that they were also asked to continue with constructing the court complete with fence.
Local community leader Penghulu Edmund Innu Sebli said the estimated cost of the project, which is under the rural transformation programme (RTP) is RM250,000.
“I am happy with the project as it provides a place for sports for the people in the villages here,” he said.
Under his charge are three areas in Petanak, namely Kampung Petanak Daya, Kampung Petanak Seri and Kampung Petanak Jaya, which are located next to each other.
