BETONG: The people of Kampung Sebemban here are looking forward to the completion of the new Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sebemban building.
Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam said a new school building had to be constructed after a river erosion incident in September 2016.
That incident, he added, had a profound effect, especially on schoolchildren living by the river.
“Thank God, work on the new 11-acre site has begun. I hope the new building will be completed in 18 months and according to schedule,” he said.
Razi was interviewed after a virtual meeting with the contractor who briefed him on the progress of work today.
The assemblyman explained that the RM9,989,335 project would include six classrooms, preschools and other facilities.
“For the record, the project was offered to the contractor on March 15 and the ground-breaking ceremony is expected to be held after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“The project is built on a new site near the Kampung Sebemban Village Expansion Scheme (SPK),” he said.
Razi thanked the federal and state governments for funding the cost of the project and for providing a safer site for children to study.
