JULAU: Residents of the 22-door Rumah Anthony Bau in Rantau Tapang, Mujok, Julau can now enjoy 24-hour electricity supply thanks to the Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (Sares) project.
Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin said that the implementation of the project since last December has brought great changes to the development landscape of the community.
“This project was implemented with an allocation of RM60,000 for each longhouse door,” he said.
He said this after the handing over of the construction of the belian wood bridge project to Rumah Anthony Bau which was completed by its village development and security committee (JKKK) through a gotong-royong (communal work) basis with a cost of RM50,000 under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP).
The longhouse residents are also able to enjoy WiFi services using a very small aperture terminal (VSAT) —a two-way ground station that transmits and receives data from satellites.
The project was carried out by Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) in March this year.
There are 17 projects carried by SMA in Melaun constituency and Rumah Anthony Bau is one of the longhouses that will benefit from it.
