MUKAH: With just a few days left until we bid farewell to 2023 and usher in 2024, the residents of several villages here are buzzing with excitement as they make preparations for the upcoming New Year festivities.

Chairperson Haminah Jaraiee of the Rukun Tetangga Area (KRT) in Kampung Tutus Ulu, Kampung Bedanga, and Kampung Kelaup noted the early preparations undertaken by villagers due to conflicting schedules on the weekend.

“Some will be busy with personal affairs, preventing them from gathering for preparations. To ensure a smooth New Year celebration, we are organising a sukan rakyat during the day, and early preparations are crucial.”

Expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the villagers, she stressed the consistent cooperation between KRT and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) during festivals and New Year celebrations.

“I hope this year’s celebration will be vibrant, fostering stronger bonds among our community.”
In a similar vein, Penakub Ulu village chief Jefri Musa shared that preparations were underway for their upcoming celebration.
