LUNDU: Owne r s of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land in Kpg Sampadi and Kpg Sg Limo here are overjoyed after gaining back their land after 20 years.
The issue which under the concern of Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Dato Sri Wan Junaidi and Tanjung Datu Assemblywoman, Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu was resolved after consultation with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg, recently.
During the consultation held on 8 September, last year, Abang Johari has agreed to approve and gazetted the land in Kpg Sempadi and Kpg Sg Limo areas as village reserve land under Section 7 of the Sarawak Land Code.
A community leader of Kpg Sempadi, Haji Ambi Uri noted that the decision made by the Chief Minister has secured their land for the next generation.
Meanwhile, a community leader of Kpg Sg Limo, Balang Dusing expressed his thankfulness and gratitude to Abang Johari, Wan Junaidi and Jamilah for solving the land issue in favour of the villagers.
Wan Junaidi who also Member of Parliament for Santubong hoped that the villagers would give their full cooperation to the land office during the perimeter surveying which to be conducted soon to ensure the land is gazetted as village reserve land.
Dato Sri Syed Hamzah Syed Paie who represented Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Dato Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jafaar presented the land approval letter to a representative of Kpg Sempadi and Kpg Sg Limo at Masjid Kpg Sempadi near here, yesterday.
