ASAJAYA: Kampung Sambir folk are over the moon when the earth-breaking ceremony for their RM52.1-million village extension scheme was done yesterday (March 27).
They see the project as one of the things that will help improve their standard of living.
How the scheme works is each residential lot costs about RM193,000 while a house would cost about RM180,000.
Each house will have a master bedroom, two other bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen and a balcony.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated at the earth-breaking ceremony which brought excitement to the normally placid village despite the need to comply with the pandemic standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Hamisah Dan, housewife
We have been longing for a lot of assistance from the government. Therefore, we are very happy with the housing scheme and approval of other development projects for Kampung Sambir.
Gerhana Chong, self-employed
We are very grateful for various development projects carried out in Kampung Sambir. With the expansion of the village, I too, will try my luck to apply for a new house as my current house is too small for my seven family members.
Rosnah Mohammad, housewife
We are very happy and proud to be included in the first-ever three-in-one concept of the housing scheme. Those who get the houses will not just receive temporary occupation licences (TOLs), but also ready-made houses and loans.
Lapok Japar, self-employed
I have five children who are ready to settle down and start their own families. I believe that this housing scheme is a good opportunity for them to have homes of their own instead of living cramped up in a single house.
Mariam Busenak, senior citizen
There are a lot of people from Kampung Sambir who have moved out because of lack of spaces to accommodate their growing families. Therefore, this housing scheme is good news for them as the houses are good reasons to return to the village.
Alwi Aman, self-employed
With the new housing area being opened up, I believe other development projects would follow. I thank the state government for implementing the project.
