KUCHING: Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi has applauded villagers of Kampung Buntal Lama for cooperating with the Land and Survey Department (JTS) on perimeter survey of the village.
The Pantai Damai assemblyman said this during the presentation of land title deeds under Section 18 of the State Land Code for Kampung Buntal Lama, Kuching today.
“Many discussions took place with the community leaders (KK) as well as the village development and security committee (JKKK) to ensure that every lot in the village would be issued the land title deed and grant,” he said.
Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and Kuching North City Commission), advised the villagers to take good care of their land title deeds and grants as the village was near Jalan Sultan Tengah which would undergo transformation and developments in future.
“In the olden days, people used to think that villages like Kampung Buntal and Kampung Santubong were very far away because there were no roads or bridges and there was a need to cross the river.
“However, now it only takes 25 to 30 minutes for people from Kuching to arrive here. With future developments like the Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) system, our villages will be a part of the city and reap benefits from such developments,” he said.
Dr Abdul Rahman added that the villagers must continue to support the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government as it had provided them with various initiatives and assistances.
He added Sarawak and its people were indeed lucky to have a government that emphasised development.
Also present during the ceremony were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan and Assistant Minister of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Naroden Majais.
