DARO: A total of 49 villagers received their residential lot approval letters for Kampung Badong expansion scheme from the Land and Survey Department here yesterday.
According to Daro assemblyman, Safiee Ahmad, 69, more residential lots will be given to eligible villagers to be presented on Nov 20.
“The need for land lots to build homes in this area is increasing due to the large number of newly married residents.
“To ensure that they have their own homes, the government has set up nine village expansion schemes in Daro under the supervision of the Land and Survey Department.
“The schemes will provide 1,695 residential lots including community buildings such as suraus and others. Through these schemes, we hope for a more organised resettlement with basic facilities,” he said during a ceremony for handing over the residential lot approval letters yesterday.
According to him, for Daro, the government would provide electricity from the grid that supplies electricity to Mukah, Tanjung Manis and Sibu.
“For water supply, it will be further expanded by building more storage tanks near strategic locations which are expected to be completed within the next two years.
“In addition, 50 houses will be built under the Spectra Housing Scheme (as a trial phase) for residents who can afford to pay monthly installments under the Housing Development Corporation (HDC),” he said.
Safiee added that unsuccessful applicants could re-apply online (provided they must meet the criteria set by the Land and Survey Department).
In the meantime, he also advised each recipient to never sell their lot to others because it was against the law.
