ROBAN: The community, especially the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), is reminded to promptly report any infrastructure damage in their respective villages for attention.
Similarly, government agencies are urged to follow established procedures, said Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri.
He likened infrastructure damage to a fire, stating that addressing it while it’s small is easier, but if left unattended, it becomes a formidable opponent.
“I emphasise collective responsibility here, involving residents, JKKK, and agencies. We don’t want to wait until the damage is severe to take action. This poses risks and requires high costs to rectify,” he said.
Mohamad said this when asked to comment on residents’ complaints about infrastructure damage in his constituency.
He said most recorded complaints have been communicated to the relevant agencies.
“Some complaints are currently being addressed, such as road repairs in Kampung Perpat. Flood complaints in Kampung Pagan have been forwarded to the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) Betong Division for further action. Damage to roads and bridges in the Sungai Anak area, recently inspected by Kalaka Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Branch deputy chief Kasdi Pandi, is also receiving immediate attention and will be repaired soon,” he explained.
Mohamad emphasized he was open to any complaints and encouraged the use of technology for reporting.
“In this age of the Internet and technology, take pictures and provide information; it can be submitted as a complaint. However, use technology responsibly. When there’s a problem, don’t immediately blame village leaders, parties, or representatives. As a government, we are responsible and make every effort to resolve people’s issues within our capacity,” he asserted.
He mentioned that regular meetings with government agencies are held to find the best solutions to the issues raised by the people.
