SADONG JAYA: The residents of Kampung Terasi Cina here are set to have a new multipurpose hall this year.

According to Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris, the multipurpose hall, valued at RM300,000, is constructed using funds from the Simunjan assemblyman Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for this year.

He said this in his speech during the Chinese New Year Food Basket Presentation and Donation Ceremony, here recently.

He also said the participation of various segments of society in Chinese New Year celebrations reflects the culture of tolerance and mutual respect among ethnicity in the country, particularly in Sarawak.

“The celebration of one ethnic group festival is also embraced by others, showcasing the strength of Sarawak’s unity and the need to preserve it,” he added.

Meanwhile during the same event, Awla and Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee also distributed food baskets and Chinese New Year donations to 33 recipients, including the disabled and less fortunate individuals.
