MIRI: Floods in several areas in Baram have not dampened the spirit of voters in the constituency to cast their votes in this 15th general election (GE15).

On Saturday morning, people from Kampung Long Bemang, waded through the floodwaters to exercise their right as voters and cast their ballots GE15

According to acting Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee, villagers from Kampung Long Bemang came out to vote at the polling centre – SK Long Bemang, despite the flood. It was reported that the flood water was about 1.1ft deep at 8.50 am.

Ahmad Nizam disclosed that the village, with population of 530 people has been flooded since Nov 15.

The electricity supply to the village has been disconnected to avoid any untoward incident.
