KUCHING: Three villages, namely Kampung Bako Hulu, Hilir, and Tengah, received a generous donation of five cows during a ‘Majlis Ibadah Korban’ held at Surau Darul Ibadah Kampung Bako Hulu today (July 1).

Out of the five cows, three were donated by Santubong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, through Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM).

Nancy said each cow distributed to the villages weighed over 400kg, with the meat from each cow exceeding 100kg.

“One of these cows weighs over 400kg, and its meat surpasses 100kg, which will be distributed among the villagers,” she informed reporters after officiating the ‘Majlis Ibadah Korban’ at Surau Darul Ibadah in Kampung Bako Hulu.

She also highlighted that the event was a collaborative effort involving not only the government but also private sectors and individuals who joined together to contribute to the sacrificial ritual in celebration of Aidiladha.

“We can see the public’s response to the ‘korban,’ with our non-Muslim friends also assisting the community of Santubong, allowing everyone to benefit from this ‘korban’ programme,” she expressed.

Nancy, who is also the Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development (KPWKM), shared that her constituency had allocated over RM100,000 to carry out the ‘Ibadah Korban’ programme throughout Santubong.

“For the Santubong constituency, we have allocated more than RM100,000, including donations from friends, to help facilitate the sacrificial ritual due to high demand from the community,” she added.

Furthermore, the five cows were distributed to 800 households in Kampung Bako Hulu, Hilir, and Tengah. Additionally, 30 asnaf (needy) groups from each village individually received portions of the sacrificial meat.
