KUCHING:  Virtual Covid-19 Assessment Centres (CAC) will be established in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri to speed the Covid-19 testing and isolation process.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin added that the virtual CACs would be set up in these major cities and towns because they had better technology coverage.

“There is no need to go to the physical CAC. All will be done virtually and those assessed will be issued with a digital home surveillance order (HSO),” he told a press conference after a special meeting on Covid-19 pandemic management and immunisation with the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) at Wisma Bapa Malaysia yesterday (Sept 26).

He added those given the digital HSO would not receive the pink bracelets anymore.

“The aim is to isolate the people quickly. If anyone violates the digital HSO, we will know because when they are out and ‘check-in’ (via the MySejahtera app) shows the red status, the police will be informed,” he pointed out.

Khairy urged the public to have a high sense of responsibility and show high compliance with the digital HSO.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister and SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas conveyed his appreciation to the MOH for its commitment and support for the Covid-19 operation in Sarawak.

“We have raised several issues during the meeting and most of them have been settled.

“This is one of the most fruitful meetings with the MOH, probably with the new initiative by the minister (Khairy).  I am very confident that with the cooperation between the federal and state governments, we can carry out efforts to fight Covid-19 in Sarawak,” he said.

He urged the public to play their respective role in ensuring that everyone and their families remained healthy by complying with the SOPs.

“Follow the SOPs not because you are worried that you will get fined but because you value your health,” he said.

Uggah also urged the people including those in the interior areas who had Covid-19 symptoms to see doctors immediately.

“With this cooperation and the federal government’s support for the SDMC, Sarawak will be able to win this war,” he added.
