KUCHING: The director of Yayasan Sarawak, Mersal Abang Rosli, received a courtesy visit from the Ambassador of Ireland to Malaysia, Orla Tunney, on Friday.

The visit, held at the Yayasan Sarawak building, aimed to discuss education as a foundation for the well-being of the people and equitable economic prosperity between the state government and Ireland.

“For years, we have invested heavily in the education of our people, and now we have a very strong education sector.

“There are several excellent universities, and we have students from Sarawak studying at our universities, which we greatly appreciate.

“We have seen over time that our people have grown in confidence and economic ability, and we have successfully attracted more investment.”

She said this when met by reporters after meeting with Mersal.

Orla also mentioned that Sarawak shares a similar idea with them — investing in people, as they believe the people of the state have great potential.
