KUCHING: State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, warmly welcomed a delegation of 75 members from the Bugis Communication Forum of West Kalimantan (FKOB Kalbar) at a dinner event on Saturday.
Led by the Head of the West Kalimantan Regional Representative Council and FKOB chairman Dr Ardiyansyah, along with his wife Surhaini Muhammad Yunus, the delegation included the presence of the wife of Abu Bakar, Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang, adding charm to the evening.
Notable attendees included the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia, Raden Sigit Witjaksono; Consul Agong of Brunei Darussalam, Noni Zurainah Ismi; 35th Raja Bone of South Sulawesi, Andik Basok Hamid Andik Pebbenterg; and the Adat Holder of KWAB, Abdul Kadir Nohong.
The event was further enlivened by the participation of 40 members from the Bugis Heritage and Culture Community Organisation of Sadong Jaya district.
The FKOB Kalbar delegation arrived in the city last Friday and is scheduled to depart today (Nov 19).
The primary purpose of their visit is to attend the Bugis Cultural Tourism Festival 2023, a joint initiative between Sarawak (Malaysia) and Kalimantan Barat (Indonesia), held at the Sadong Jaya Open Air Stage on Friday night.
The visit underscores the cultural ties and collaborative efforts between Sarawak and West Kalimantan in promoting Bugis heritage and fostering regional goodwill.
