KUCHING: The 9th anniversary celebration of the Myvi Borneo Club was made livelier with the participation of the Sirion Chapter Pontianak Indonesia Club.
Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Development Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu lauded the initiative taken by the club to introduce the club to Sarawak’s unique and wonderful culture.
“When the Trans-Borneo Highway linking Sarawak and Kota Baru, Kalimantan, Indonesia, is completed, it will attract many tourists from our neighbouring country to visit and enjoy the beauty of Sarawak,” he said while flagging-off the club’s convoy to Rumah Sri Kenangan Siburan on Sunday (March 12).
The convoy was participated by more than 30 vehicles from Myvi Borneo and Sirion Indonesia.
In the club’s three-day programme from March 10 to 12, Myvi Borneo’s delegation from all over the state kicked-off the anniversary celebration at the Sumiran Eco Park Resort.
According to Myvi Borneo President Andiazrul Johan, the club planned for various activities and programmes, including the inaugural dinner, family day, and a charity convoy programme.
The Jiwa Murni Programme aimed to get closer to the community, especially the elderly at the Rumah Sri Kenangan Siburan.
“I didn’t think this car club could do this charitable activity. At Rumah Sri Kenangan, in particular, they can develop a closer bond with the local community,” said Sharifah Ranimah, the principal of Rumah Sri Kenangan.
During the visit to the care home, Myvi Borneo donated essential items to the more than 60 residents there.
