MIRI: Orphaned children from the Methodist Children’s Home here were treated to a fun-filled picnic outing last Friday.
The event, organised by the Miri Youth Care Team, was aimed at bringing fun and laughter to the disadvantaged children.
The Miri Youth Care Team, an independent organisation founded by five young people during the Covid-19 pandemic three years ago, has grown significantly.
Initially formed to help the community through the challenging times of the pandemic, it now boasts over 100 volunteers dedicated to spreading love and support throughout the community.
Its chairman, Lee Jun Tak, expressed gratitude to the volunteers’ unwavering support and dedication.
The event was graced by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting and Miri Member of Parliament Chiew Choon Man.
In his brief speech during the event, Ting highlighted the essence of charity work.
“Alms not only involve public welfare, but also reflect sincerity. When we are involved in charity events, it means we are willing to put aside our busy work and learn to share happiness with the less fortunate,” he said.
