KUCHING: Volunteers have traversed through Kampung Sri Maimunah, Sg Apong, and Kg Lumba Kuda to extend a helping hand to more than 20 families in need.

As Hari Raya Aidilfitri draws near, this gesture sought to bring joy and relief to those facing hardship during the festive season.

“The ‘Bakul Raya’ distributed to these families encompassed a thoughtful assortment of snacks, packet drinks, cordial drinks, biscuits, and essential food provisions,” said Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii in a statement Monday.

“It is hoped that these provisions will provide a source of comfort and blessings to the recipients during the festive period,” he added.

Among the beneficiaries were persons with disabilities (OKU), single mothers, the elderly, and individuals battling chronic diseases and cancer.

The act of reaching out to these marginalised groups underscores the importance of inclusivity and compassion within the community,he said.

“This initiative serves as a powerful reminder of the strength found in unity and solidarity, transcending barriers of race, religion, and background.
