KUCHING: The younger generation have to come out and vote on November 19 (polling day) to make their voices heard.

Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian urged the young ones to grab the opportunity this coming election to elect politicians that can strongly represent Sarawakians in the Parliament.

“If you really want to make a difference, politics is the one that can make the change with the right policies.

“Instead of just debating on how politicians are not doing a good job, the younger generation should come forward and make a difference by joining the politics too,” Sim said during the launching of SUPP Youth NewBees & Puteri held at SUPP Headquarters here today.

Sim reminded that they are never too young to understand politics.

“Do not have the mindset of thinking that you are too young to understand politics and brush it off by saying that it does not affect you when in fact it does.

“Let me bring up one of the policies that you guys can probably relate which is the policy to swap the shoes that you use when you went to schools last time from white to black that caused a lot of commotions back then.

“I know a lot of people criticised the policy but this shows you that with just a signature, a policy can affect you, even before you graduate from high school, so do not say that it does not affect you” Sim explained.

Sim added that today (Oct 22) is the most appropriate day to launch the NewBees and Puteri in conjunction with the celebration of Sarawak Youth Day 2022.

“Why is launching NewBees and Puteri important? This is because it is a matter of time before SUPP belongs to you.

“We would not be here forever. I am 57 years old this year. Our Premier is 72 years old. By 2030, he would be 80 years old and I will be 65 years old. We cannot go on forever.

“You have to understand that we would need you all to step up in the future and become the leaders in the future so this is why launching NewBees and Puteri are important to get the younger generation to be involved in politics,” Sim said.

Sim concluded by hoping that the launching of NewBees and Puteri could be the start of the younger generation getting involved in the politics in order to shape the next generation for the future.
