KUCHING: The coming assistance for mothers throughout the state will be revealed in details during the State Budget this year end.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg remained tight-lipped on the details of the additional assistance to Endowment Fund Sarawak which was launched earlier this year.
“Just wait. I will announce it during the State Budget at the end of the year,” he told the reporters after launching the Produk Warisan Kampung programme at Mydin Petra Jaya yesterday.
According to him, the assistance currently has a lot of “financial implications”.
On May 5, Abang Johari hinted he would make an announcement on something to do with the welfare of Sarawakian mothers and which would help lessen their burden.
He stated that the assistance was for mothers who had just given birth because in the first six months after giving birth, they would need milk and other necessary items for their babies.
The assistance would be in addition to the Endowment Fund Sarawak where every Sarawakian baby born on Jan 1 this year and onwards is eligible to receive a one-off incentive of RM1,000.
This incentive can only be withdrawn once a child reaches 18 years of age. It is meant to help the children in their education or to kick off their careers.
