KUCHING: The much-anticipated WAK Miri 2024 Festival calendar was unveiled yesterday (July 18) at The Hive Coworking Space in Miri.
The event, graced by Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Datuk Sebastian Ting, marks the beginning of an exciting journey towards one of Sarawak’s premier cultural events.
The festival, set for August 1-4, promises a vibrant lineup of performances, workshops, exhibitions, and community activities celebrating Miri and Sarawak’s rich cultural heritage. Highlights include music portals, interactive workshops, art and fashion exhibitions, and engaging community markets.
“The WAK Miri Festival 2024 is brought by the community for the community. The community has taken great care to put together a calendar that reflects the diverse talents and vibrant spirit of Miri and Sarawak.
“Our goal is to provide a platform for local artistes, performers, and creatives to showcase their work and to create unforgettable experiences for all festival-goers,” said festival manager, Brendan Chin.
Supported by MTCP Sarawak and various partners, the festival aims to promote cultural tourism and foster community spirit. Ting highlighted the festival’s importance in boosting tourism and celebrating local talent.
