The Pakatan Harapan (PH) government and a state DAP leader have been challenged to give Sarawak back its autonomy on education and health without delay.
Lo Khere Chiang (GPS-Batu Kitang) who dared Chong Chieng Jen (DAP-Kota Sentosa) and PH to fulfil their election promises, said: “Sarawak will gladly accept it if they accepted the challenge. Do not just talk and don’t attach any conditions to this autonomy.”
Lo said the state government will implement policies that will enhance the state’s education system which will be fair and bring out the best in the students.
“There is no other state like ours where the Chinese have equality unlike in West Malaysia,” he said.
Lo said the Chief Minister has improved the economy of Sarawak on an impressive scale with the establishment of Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) and Sarawak Development Bank (DBOS), adding he has put Sarawak on par with the rest of the digital world of economy with a generous state funded allocation of RM1 billion to improve ICT infrastructure.
“For Chinese independent schools, it was also our Chief Minister, who came to the rescue with funding to defray the increasing running costs.
“Abang Johari has also followed up on the late Adenan’s pledge to award a 2,000-hectare piece of land for Chinese education to be sustainable, he said.
Adding on, he said that the chief minister is on the right track and Sarawakians should give him 110 per cent support on this.
“No Sarawak state leader other than the late Tok Nan has fought for Sarawak’s rights the way our Chief Minister Abang Johari has done.
“The chief minister has always put his efforts in Chinese schools and has not left them behind. This can only be seen in Sarawak,” he said.
