DALAT: The under construction retaining wall project at the Sungai Kut Muara near here when completed in the near future will be able to accommodate more than 30 berthing boats.
According to Kpg Sungai Kut Muara Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) chairman David Ulis, the project when completed would definite bring joy and comfort to boat users in the area.
“The project being implemented under the Mukah Parliamentary project is now about 70 per cent completed. With a proper berthing point it would definitely create a sense of security and comfort for the road users,” he said.
With the completion of the retaining wall, the site which is the boat berthing point for the locals especially those living on the other bank of the canal can also become a waiting or meeting place for the locals and visitors.
“Those residing on the opposite bank of the canal normally park their cars on this side of the bank. Hence, when they want to go to Dalat Bazaar and beyond they have to cross the canal by boat and berth here because Sungai Kut-Dalat Road is on this side of the Kut canal,” he said.
The project is one of the federal government projects being implemented in the area and believed to cost around RM350,000. It is expected to be completed in March this year.
