KUCHING: Malaysia strongly condemns the acts of genocide and atrocities committed against the Palestinian people, said Senate President Tan Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

He affirmed Malaysia’s support for the Palestinians in their struggle for liberation from Israeli occupation and Malaysia’s diplomatic stance to maintain direct communication and cooperation with various parties, including the political wing of Hamas, to seek a swift resolution to the current conflict.

“Based on explanations by Walid A.M. Abuali (Palestine ambassador to Malaysia), it is evident that the primary goal of this genocidal cruelty is to forcibly displace the entire Palestinian population from Gaza, starting from the northern Gaza Strip to the southern part, ultimately pushing the Palestinians out of border area and into Egyptian territory.

“Therefore, I call on the international side, especially the Western and European powers, to show humanity and take immediate and drastic action to stop this inhuman genocidal cruelty against the Palestinian people,” he said in a statement in connection with a courtesy visit from Abuali, today (Oct 23).

Wan Junaidi also called on  the media to provide a fairer report that is reflective of the current situation in Gaza.

“The current narrative in some media that Israel’s military action is targeting Hamas is inaccurate because the casualties and injuries are civilians and children who are not part of the Hamas military,” he added.

Wan Junaidi affirmed that Malaysia will not cease its efforts to advocate for the rights of Palestinians based on international law principles.

These principles include the Palestinians’ legitimate rights to live in peace and harmony in their land, reclaim land unlawfully seized by the Israeli regime since 1948, and establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders with Baitul Maqdis as its capital.

During the courtesy visit, Wan Junaidi said Abuali expressed gratitude and appreciation for Malaysia’s assistance and support, both from the government and the people to Gaza and the Palestinian population.
