PADAWAN: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) is looking for an event management company in Kuching to help it organise the “Borneo Highland Padawan Nature Challenge 2017”.
Chairman of MPP and Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang said yesterday that the event management company must “have a lot of ideas on the event” to organise creative activities that could attract the people and make money for the council.
“For this event, the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism has allocated RM50,000. We want to turn it into RM100,000 – and this is the responsibility of the event management company.
“Apart from that, the event company also needs to find sponsorship for the programme.”
Lo is also offering two other events for the interested event management company to organise, namely, Padawan International 4X4 challenge 2017 and Padawan Raft Safari 2017.
“The Padawan International 4X4 Challenge 2017 will be held from 21 until 23 July, 2017 while the Padawan Raft Safari 2017 will be held on 24 September, 2017,
“Each of these programmes has also received an allocation of RM50,000 from the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism. Both programmes have received tremendous response from participants including those from Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, and Philippines,” said Lo.
Meanwhile, he said interested event management companies must submit their proposals for the Borneo Highland Padawan Nature Challenge 2017 on/or before 30 June, 2017 (Friday) to the Organising Secretary of Borneo Highland Padawan Nature Challenge 2017, Noraishah Morshidi. For enquiries, they are asked to contact Frida Sinos at 082-615566.
The “Borneo Highland Padawan Nature Challenge 2017” will be held on 22 October, 2017 (Sunday) at the Borneo Highland Resort in Padawan.
The categories offered are the MPP Chairman Cycling Trophy (85 km) which is divided into three sub-categories, namely, Open, Junior and Senior (age 40 and above), Penrissen Summit Trekking Challenge (Open) 15 km, Batu Panggah Trekking Challenge (Open) 10 km, Borneo Highland Run (Men Category) 8 km (Foothill – Plateau), and Borneo Highland Run (Women Category) 8 km (Foothill – Plateau).
Lo explained that one of the objectives of the event was to promote nature, adventure, sport and a healthy lifestyle to the general public.
“It is also to promote Padawan areas including Borneo Highland Resort as places for eco-adventure tourism and encourage collaboration between the public and the private sectors in promoting eco-tourism in Sarawak,
“It is also to give an opportunity for nature lovers and adventurous individuals to be closer to Mother Nature and experience the environmental and adventure tourism aspects of Padawan as well as promote economic and social development in the Padawan areas,” Lo told a press conference at the MPP Meeting Room yesterday.
