KUCHING: As most parts of the world are currently undergoing unprecedented movement control orders to curb the Covid-19 pandemic, many heroic and solidarity stories have emerged and are shared by people across the world.

Such heart-warming stories are also abundant in Sarawak as people come together in solidarity to help out those in need.

Such exemplary stories are being collected by the Sarawak’s Pride project, which was started in 2019 by Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) and Sarawak Development Institute (SDI).

The project has, so far, collected about 700 stories throughout Sarawak with the incredible support from members of the public.

The YPS secretariat is now inviting members of the public to submit their heart-warming stories that amplify the spirit of unity, unique bonding and relationship among people in Sarawak.

This meaningful project is only possible with the support and submissions of members of the public, especially journalists, writers and frontliners from all fraternities as they are the ones with the insights to the happenings within the community.

These stories will serve as a recognition of Sarawak’s unity and solidarity in Malaysian history.

The short story submissions can be in either English or Bahasa Melayu ranging from 50 to 200 words only.

Sarawakians and non-Sarawakians alike are welcomed to send in multiple submissions as long as the stories are related to an actual experience of unity in Sarawak.

This project aims to collect 1000 unity stories in Sarawak for a place in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR).

Some attractive goodies will be given as incentives for the best stories submitted such as a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2, an Apple Watch Series 3, a FitBit Inspire, and more.

Submissions sent since August, 2019 to May, 2020 will be in the selection for best stories by a panel of jury.

Members of the public may submit their short stories on unity via e-mail to sarawakpride@gmail.com, or by online form on the website of Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak at www.yps.org.my/sarawakpride, or by sending a submission to the SDI WhatsApp number at 013-671 8063.
