MIRI: More than 20 fishing boats that were washed up onto the middle of the road in Kuala Batu Satu in Kuala Baram here would be moved back to their respective sheds once the sea condition returns to normal.

Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin said that he has requested the Public Works Department (JKR) to clear logs and debris on the road and to reopen it to road users.

“Hopefully by tomorrow, the sheds can be cleared and the boats can be returned,” said Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman, on Sunday (Jan 17) after visiting the site.

Also present was Miri Acting Resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf. On Jan 12, the fishing boats were forced to move to the main road dual carriageway in front of Kampung Batu Satu as the boathouses were flooded due to the king tide.
