KUCHING: Every time an election is held in Sarawak, many outsiders would come to campaign in order to secure victory for their respective candidates.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said, indeed their presence would enliven the election atmosphere but certain parties would try to bring negative elements.

In this regard, he urged PBB members to be extra cautious because some of the outsiders were too extreme and might disrupt the state’s racial unity.

“We do not want what happened in some places to happen in Sarawak due to the tricks of outsiders.

“So far we in Sarawak have a high spirit of unity, racial and religious tolerance, we do not want, just because of small issues, our society to be divided,” he said during a Randau GPS-PBB DUN N.4 Pantai Damai event at Buntal on Friday night.

Dr Abdul Rahman explained that strong teamwork was important to ensure a big victory for the party, especially in the Pantai Damai constituency.

“We have a strong team that always works together between the central, women and youth wings.

“It is proven by our ability in raking excellent results in the 11th State Election (PRN11) and the 14th General Election (GE14),” he added.

He mentioned that PBB Pantai Damai Branch has the largest number of members in Sarawak numbering some 16,000 people.

“This large number of members also gives us the advantage to achieve excellent results.

“However, it should not make us feel complacent, instead we must continue to register more members from time to time,” he said.
