KUCHING: Watchmoviesnot Film Festival (WMNFF) Malaysia Tour will be collaborating with Seni Kita Weekend on Sept 16 to 17 at the CSSC, Wisma Ho Ho Lim.

Celebrating its third edition, the WMNFF has been making waves in Sarawak with tremendous showcases of many local films.

According to a press release issued by HAUS KCH, WMNFF is embarking on a tour of three cities next month, embracing the empowering theme “Unleashing the Unlimited Mind”.

Commencing with their inaugural festival in Sibu until Sept 1, Watchmoviesnot is set to showcase certain films with partners in George Town, Penang (Hin Bus Depot), and Miri (Moongrind Kingdom), and ending their tour with the full showcase here which is a collaboration with HAUS KCH.

The tour is a part of their mission to unite a broader audience in the realm of cinematic art.

“Seni Kita Weekend is a community-driven arts festival kick-started by HAUS KCH in July 2022, unveiling their third quarterly weekend festival this September under the theme “Subcultures”.

“Seni Kita Weekend has pioneered numerous local artisan markets here, aiming to enrich the arts community in Sarawak,” the statement said.

Meanwhile programme coordinator of Seni Kita Weekend, Christy Yang said the experience of partnering with like-minded communities and individuals who are aligned in their commitment to enhancing Malaysia’s creative arts industry is truly gratifying.

“Platforms such as WMNFF are designed to be accessed by all walks of life, a stark contrast to the highbrow pageantry of ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards.

“In collaboration with Watchmoviesnot – a film education project that aims to connect films, audiences, and filmmakers in the art of films, Seni Kita Weekend will be showcasing six local short films throughout both days,” she said.

However, the founder of Watchmoviesnot Film Festival, Chris Ling said he and his team curate film festivals to unite films, audiences, and filmmakers, sparking conversations that kindle endless possibilities from the big screen to our everyday lives.
