KUCHING: The water supply problem along the Puncak Borneo area to Siburan was initially caused by the construction of temporary pipeline connection at Batu 10, Kuching-Serian road.

The work to connect the broken pipe, which is within the Pan Borneo Highway project, was completed on July 3 but water was still not flowing.

According to Kuching Water Board (KWB), the reason for this is a technical problem has arisen.

KWB said an ‘air lock’ has occurred along the pipeline between LAK Batu 10 booster pump station to the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) water supply system.

It said the ‘air lock’ prevented water pressure from being raised to normal.

“Our operators are doing fieldwork to release the ‘air lock’ wind trapped in the pipes and also inspect the integrity of the piping system.

“We will continue to send water to the affected areas until the restoration works are completed.

“The KWB and JBALB (Kuching Division) apologise for the difficulties faced by the people who are experiencing water problems,” it stated.
