Abdul Yakub Arbi (GPS – Balingian) has addressed the august House stating that the people of Balingian face troubling issues such as electricity and water supply.
“There are several other longhouses which do not have access to electric supply for instance Rumah John in Bayan Ulu; Rumah Enjat in Kuala Balingian; Rumah Jemur and Rumah Langi Tuba in Setuan Kecil and Rumah Helena in Liuk.
“I hope that electric connectivity will be immediate and that all these longhouses will have electricity supply,” he said.
He addressed the matter during the debate of the State Budget 2023 during the fourth day of 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting yesterday.
Apart from that, Abdul Yakub also mentioned the constant water-pressure issue faced by the people in Balingian.
“Issues on low water pressure in Balingian are affecting Kampung Bunut, Kampung Litong, Kampung Tanjung, Temesu, Bukit Ambun, Bayan Ulu, Balingian, Kuala Balingian and Setuan.
“I urge the authorities and necessary agencies to take further action and investigation on the issue.
“However, in areas from Maban to Pelata, there are still areas without proper drainage systems which could supply clean water,” he said.
He also stressed that the agencies involved should look into the concerning issue and solve it as soon as possible to help the people in Balingian.
