The next generation of AirPods, slated for release by the end of 2019, should finally be water resistant, according to the site MacRumors, which cites Wedbush Securities analyst Daniel Ives’s predictions.
Two new models of AirPods could be released just in time for the end-of-year holidays. Both would be water and dust resistant, with one of them adopting a new design. Taiwanese site DigiTimes has also announced that the next generation of Apple’s wireless buds would also be equipped with active noise-reduction technology.
The current generation of AirPods dropped in March 2019, providing greater battery life, Siri compatibility and a wireless charging case, with quick connection to Apple devices as soon as they are pulled out of their case and worn.
Thanks to optical detectors and accelerometers, they can also tell when they are being worn, and automatically go into sleep mode as soon as they are taken out. This second generation of AirPods is currently sold for US$199 (with wireless charging case), or US$159 (with the ‘classic’ case). – Relaxnews
