LUNDU: The Lundu-Sematan Water Supply Project, set to commence next year, is expected to be fully completed by 2027.

Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan said that the Sarawak government, through the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication, has approved a funding allocation of RM200 million to construct a new water treatment plant here.

“This was confirmed by the Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, during the winding-up speech at the recent 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting,” he said.

Azizul also explained that the Sarawak government has allocated an additional RM779,000 to provide 917 water storage tanks to address water shortages in the constituency.

Earlier, he officiated at the handover of the water tanks to the community leaders within Tanjung Datu constituency at the Lundu District Office.

Regarding the distribution of the water tanks, Azizul expressed hope that the community leaders would closely monitor the process to ensure that every household in need receives the tanks, allowing them to benefit from the provision until the water supply project is fully completed in 2027.
