KUCHING: Water tanks have been requested to provide for the Chinese community observing the Ching Ming Festival at the 8th Mile Hokkien Cemetery here.

Kuching South Mayor, Datuk Wee Hong Seng turned to the Kuching Water Board for help after it emerged that the public visiting the tombs of their ancestors there had difficulty sourcing for water.

After a discussion with Kapitan Tan Kok Chiang, the  Kuching Hokkien Association Secretary General, he decided to request KWB to provide water tanks for the community during the festival period.

“Wee would like to extend his sincere gratitude to the KWB for their support and contribution towards the Chinese community festival,” said the association’s spokesperson in a press statement here Monday.

“We hope this gesture of goodwill will further strengthen harmony and unity within our community,” she added.
