SERIAN: The purported coup by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has nothing to do with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

He said that rumours of GPS MPs backing Anwar had no basis.

“From GPS, there is none … we do not know, what he (Anwar) did. That may just be his own thoughts, GPS has nothing to do with that,” Rundi said.

On Wednesday, Anwar who is Port Dickson MP, announced in a press conference that he had the support of a majority of MPs to form the federal government.

He said the majority obtained was conclusive and not a slim majority.

On the background of the MPs who supported him, Anwar simply said that they comprised of elected representatives from various parties.

The opposition leader also admitted that there was involvement from Umno and PAS elected representatives in his new government.
