KUCHING: The Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) will be hosting a webinar titled ‘Cartoons, Sci-Comm, and Conservation’ at 11.30 am next Monday (Sept 9).
The event will welcome 500 participants and aims to raise awareness about environmental issues and wildlife conservation through captivating cartoons and artwork.
The webinar will be delivered by Rohan Chakravarty, an artist dedicated to using his cartoons to raise awareness about environmental issues and wildlife conservation.
“Scientific discussions on ecology and conservation are often filled with jargon, making it difficult for the general public to understand,” SBC said in a press statement.
SBC said participants can discover how cartoons can simplify these complex topics, serving as a friendly bridge between the subject and the audience, and ultimately encouraging both engagement and action.
“With a deep passion for art and nature, Rohan can create engaging and thought-provoking illustrations that highlight critical environmental concerns and advocate the protection of endangered species
“His work aims to spark conversations, inspire action, and nurture a greater appreciation for the natural world,” SBC said.
Those interested to participate in the webinar — which is free — may register at https://qrco.de/bfLynF, or alternatively, they can watch the live stream on SBC’s official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/sarawak.biodiversity.centre.
