BAU: A wee hour fire broke out in an uninhabited house in Kampung Tringgus Rabak Rotan, leaving the building completely destroyed today (April 2).
According to the owner of the house, it was no longer used as a residence and had been converted into a store to keep ancient relics and paddy crops.
Bau fire station chief Tawang Linggem said they received a distress call around 1.10am and his team was promptly deployed to the scene.
Prior to their arrival, villagers were attempting to put out the fire with pipe water and fire extinguishers.
However, despite their efforts, the fire was too intense, and the house was beyond saving.
The team later took over the scene to ensure that the situation was completely safe before wrapping up the operation at 2.10am.
Meanwhile, in Kuching, a Honda City car parked in front of a shophouse near Kampung Muhibbah, Jalan Pending, burst into flames around 10.35pm last night (April 1).
Firemen from Tabuan Jaya station performed the extinguishing deed after being alerted of the incident.
It was reported that the vehicle belonged to a 66-year-old man, and the owner was unharmed.
