KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Dr. James Masing said that polling can be held on any day and May 9 is as good as any day of the month.
He said polling during week day is nothing new as during Dr. Tun Mahathir’s 22 years of ruling, he held polling day on weekdays three times.
What is more important, said Masing, is that employers must allow their workers to go and vote. Election Commission announced that Nomination day would be held on April 28 and polling would be held on May 9 which is on a Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak announced a public holiday on polling day.
