KUCHING: Thirty-five welfare and charitable homes throughout the state received RM3,000 each under the MagnumCares angpow distribution community programme.

Magnum regional operations manager Liew Kee Chuan said the programme benefited needy senior citizens and orphans in Sarawak.

“It has always been our mission under MagnumCares to fight for the communities with great empathy, acceptance, and love.

“Hence, we are hoping for a meaningful and moderate celebration with the people and will continue to empower society with a more sustainable and significant corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme,” he said during the handover of cheques to 16 welfare and charitable homes at Trinity Hub, here on Tuesday (Jan 25).

Liew said another 19 welfare and charitable homes located in other parts of the state would receive similar donations later.

“In total, we spent over RM100,000 for this programme,” he said, adding that a similar programme would also be organised during Gawai Dayak.

The handing over of the cheques were witnessed by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and Federation of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions Chinese Association Sarawak (Huazong) vice president Ko Wai Neng.
