KUCHING: Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday allocated RM50,000 to “Pertububan Kebajikan Dangsanak Limbang dan Lawas”(a welfare organisation for the people of Limbang and Lawas) during “Majlis Badudun Aidilfitri 2017”.
The Hari Raya gathering was held at Dewan Hikmah at Petra Jaya here.
In his speech, Johari pointed out that Northern Sarawak was full of economic potential.
“What we have seen today is that Limbang and Lawas are developing rapidly.
“Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and I have agreed to connect the Pan Borneo Highway to Limbang and Brunei,” he said.
“We have agreed to proceed with the construction of the Trusan Dam because Lawas and Limbang have the power energy and clean water.”
Commenting on Kuching City, Johari said it provided job and education opportunities to people of various ethnic groups.
“I was informed that more than 10,000 people from Limbang and Lawas live in Kuching.
“Some are also married to Kuching people, some are working and studying here. I hope they are able to adapt to the situation in Kuching and grab the opportunities to change their lives and those of their families.”
Also present at the event were Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.
