KUCHING: Sinar Murni Welfare Organisation (PKSM) recently contributed Covid-19 prevention kits worth RM64,000 to frontliners and several non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
The contribution was in cooperation with Latter-Day Saint (LDS) Charities of the Malaysian Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
PKSM chairman Fredy Michael Printis stated that the project is one of their efforts to serve the local community.
Having said that, he pointed out the NGO is eager to help and has many noble projects that serve to elevate living conditions and improve welfare of those in need regardless of race, culture or religion.
“We are very happy that we are able to contribute to the frontliners and NGOs. The Covid-19 prevention kit includes personal protective equipment (PPE) comprising face masks, hand sanitisers, face shields and rubber gloves.
“The main purpose of this project is to help in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic by providing sufficient prevention materials. We also hope to reduce the burdens of our frontliners and NGOs during this very challenging time.
He said this during the simple contribution handover ceremony at Malaysian Red Crescent Society Kuching District Headquarters, Jalan Reservoir today.
Among the recipients of the project were Kanowit district police headquarters, Bintangor district police headquarters, Marudi District Hospital, Malaysian Red Crescent Society Kuching District, Sarawak Cheshire Home, Hope Place Kuching, Home of Peace and Kuching Love Book Association.
He added that the NGO had undertaken various charity works for the local community including providing fire extinguishers to longhouses.
PKSM is an independent body and NGO run by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints Kuching District.
Meanwhile, LDS Charities is the church’s arm for humanitarian efforts to relieve suffering of all nationalities and religions which also offers hope with the potential for a better life for millions of people around the world.
