A total of 244 welfare recipients from Serembu constituency have benefited from monthly welfare assistance under the Sarawak Social Welfare Department last year.
Community Well-being Assistant Minister Datuk Francis Harden said the total expenses spent on various welfare assistance was RM77,202.
The assistance broke down into the following categories: Senior Citizens – 83 (for a total of RM29,050); Children – 32 (RM10,250 in total); General – 39 (RM8,750); Working Disabled – 15 (RM6,000); Care for People with Disabilities – 17 (RM5,950); Non-Working Disabled – 56 (RM16, 800); Youth – total RM400.
Francis said this in response to a question by Miro Simuh (GPS-Serembu).
