BINTULU: The Social Welfare Department (JKM) Bintulu provide immediate assistance of dry food to 71 heads of families from three longhouses in the Ulu Segan area due to the floods on Saturday (Jan 23).

The aid was delivered by Civil Defense Department (APM) and Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) to Rumah Eloh, Rumah Selanjat Usah and Rumah Andi.

Welfare officer, Taddy Ajin said the assistance was only given to residents who live in the area where they cannot move at all due to the flood.

Taddy also advised residents to always be vigilant and stay safe during floods.

“Turn off the source of electrical power and keep all important documents so that they do not get wet and disappear due to floods,” he said.

He hopes that if there are areas that have lost contact, please inform the nearest rescue agency or district office to facilitate the coordination of assistance.
