KUCHING: Sarawak will play its part to ensure political stability in the country.
The reassurance came from Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who said only when there is a stable government would the nation be peaceful. Otherwise, the nation would be affected.
“In Sarawak, of course we have our own formula and our own culture.
“If Sarawak continues to be stable like this, the Malaysian government would also be stable. That, you can count on me,” he told Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at a luncheon with Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders at Waterfront Hotel here today (April 2).
“If Sarawak becomes kucar kacir (a mess), then the federal government would also be affected.
“But so far, the GPS government made up of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), is in the same direction.
“When the state is peaceful, we will be able to assist the federal government in terms of administration of the country and the implementation of inclusivity-based policies,” he added.
Abang Johari pointed out that the prime minister is well aware of the state’s development situation, to which he said the man would do his best to ensure that Sarawak would be well developed.
“I think he wants to protect what there is in Sarawak. After all, Sarawak is his second home,” he said.
