KUCHING: Age and marital status are no barriers to this beauty pageant Mrs Charity Queen Sarawak (MCQS) 2019.

The 13 finalists of MCQS, all of whom are married, were introduced at CityONE Megamall here yesterday.

They are Julia Thomson Guran, 42; Nurul Fatihah Masu’ut, 21; Nur Amanina Abdul Taib, 27; Martha Mervy Kulen, 40; Janeshah Chin, 31; Crystal Ann Manja, 29; Chelsnie Adantemapur, 38; Victoria Musa, 35; Christina Laong Kayang, 35; Erlin Christopher Pandong, 33; Nurulhuda Sha’adi, 35; Sylvia Vincent, 33; and Faizura Razali, 28.

The purpose of the pageant is to encourage more Sarawakian women to be more active in charitable work.

At the end of the pageant, about 20 less fortunate students will receive items needed for school such as school bags, uniforms and stationery. These school necessities are donated by the finalists themselves.

The winner of this pageant will represent Sarawak at Mrs Malaysia World 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, in addition to receiving RM2,000, a crown and sash worth RM3,000, jewellery worth RM3,000 and a range of beauty care services.

During the introduction session yesterday, Janeshah Chin was crowned “Darling of the Crowd”, receiving a crown worth RM1,000 as well as a sash, plaque and RM200 cash sponsored by Herba Kunyit Kuning Enterprise.

Larissa Ping, Miss Malaysia World 2018, commended the efforts of MCQS in fighting for children who deserve education.

“This is the purpose of beauty pageants — to serve the community and help people in need,” she said.

Ping was awarded “Queen of the Year 2018” by the Malaysian Beauty Pageant Fan Club (MBPFC) for her excellent achievement in the Miss World 2018 pageant.

She received a crown worth RM2,000 and a sash sponsored by Herba Kunyit Kuning Enterprise, as well as a pair of earrings sponsored by Ida Hanicomb.

The pageant, which is presented by Double Event Management, will hold its grand final on August 3 at the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) Auditorium.

The grand final will be attended by Mrs Malaysia World 2017 Datin Harveen Kaur, who is also the national director of Mrs Malaysia World. The second runner-up of Mrs World 2019 Kokilam Kathirvailu, who is also Mrs Malaysia World 2018/2019, will be present as well.
