MIRI: Amid the Covid-19 outbreak and the movement control order (MCO), fresh produce wholesalers in Miri are operating as usual to ensure supply is adequate.
A ground check carried out early yesterday morning at Tamu Muhhibbah saw the wholesalers conducting their daily transactions.
Also seen at the Tamu were Minister of Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting and Mayor Adam Yii.
During the visit Lee, Ting and Yii also discussed on how to assist the hardcore poor and daily paid workers whose income have been affected by the MCO.
“We are grateful that members of the Miri Division Planters Association are willing to donate some of their produce for the less fortunate,” said Yii.
The MCO period has been extended to April 14 following the surge of Covid-19 cases.
