KUCHING: A local woman pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court to a charge of intentionally causing hurt to her husband by pouring hot coffee at him at their residence in Matang, here in May.

Housewife Sharfiza, 41, who appeared before Judge Musli Abdul Hamid at the Sessions Court this morning, pleaded innocence to the charge of intentionally pouring hot coffee on her 47-year-old husband in their  house at about 10 am on May 14.

She was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 326A of the Penal Code if convicted she can jailed up to 10 years or fine or whipping.

The court was told that the couple had an argument which led to the accused intentionally spilling freshly brewed hot coffee on the victim.

The victim was sent to the hospital for scalds to his body.

The court set a mention date for case management on Aug 15 next and released the accused on RM5,000 bail with a RM2,000 deposit along with a local surety.
