KUCHING: The Justice for Wildlife Malaysia (JWM) paid a courtesy visit to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) to discuss potential collaboration towards protecting the wildlife of Malaysia.
The visit yesterday was led by co-founder and project director of JWM Dr Nor Arlina Amirah Ahmad Ghani who was welcomed by SFC chief executive officer Zolkipli Mohamad Aton.
The visitors introduced their organisation and its mission to protect and conserve wildlife.
“They expressed their interest in collaborating with us to address the pressing issue of illegal wildlife trade and to explore potential joint conservation projects,” SFC said.
The custodian of national parks and wildlife in Sarawak said it acknowledges the importance of collaboration and welcomed the opportunity to work with JWM, a non-governmental organisation (NGO)) that helps bridges law and wildlife conservation.
“We discussed potential areas of collaboration, including sharing information and resources to enhance enforcement efforts and public awareness on illegal wildlife trade.
“We also touched on the potential for joint conservation projects such as habitat restoration and wildlife monitoring to ensure the sustainable and responsible management of natural resources,” it said.
Both organisations expressed their commitment to protecting the wildlife of Malaysia and demonstrating their willingness to work together towards common goals.
